With the guidance of our elders, we explore political identities and civil rights movements from the 1940s to the present time that have shaped the 2SLGBTQ+ community's experiences. These topics include Western colonialism as it relates to the creation of the gender binary, Jim Crow laws and later desegregation efforts, and Disability rights activism. This curriculum also includes contemporary movements such as Black Lives Matter, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Two-Spirits, and Anti-immigrant sentiment and ICE detention. Through this collective history we see how the past is intertwined with elder's current experiences and care needs.
